Background The Western Australian division of the United Nations Association of Australia (UNAAWA) and with Sustain: The Australian Food Network are delighted to bring you this Independent Summit Dialogue. Aside from the local community coming together around an issue which affects us all, it's also an opportunity for Western Australia to have a seat at the table and contribute to the Summit process. UN Food Systems Summit In 2021, UN Secretary-General António Guterres will convene a Food Systems Summit as part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The Summit will launch bold new actions to deliver progress on all 17 SDGs, each of which contribute to achieving a healthier, more sustainable and equitable food system. It is a people’s summit – for everyone, everywhere. Bringing together farmers, First Nations people, youth organisations, consumer groups, environmental advocacy, as well as key players from the world of science, business, policy, healthcare and academia, and other key stakeholders. It is also a solutions summit that will require everyone to take action to transform the world’s food system. WA's Independent Dialogue aims to adapt this inclusive format to our local context.
